I met Lorelei Siegel a few years ago at a profound and tender time in my beloved sister’s and my own lives. My sister had come to live with my husband and me as she entered the final months of her journey with ovarian cancer. I was fortunate to have engaged Lori when I needed help the most - after coming home from MGH’s Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. I had suffered a high spinal cord injury, and could do very little for myself. Both my wife and I were overwhelmed with the complexity of basic caregiving tasks and the workload required to accomplish them. Lori was responsible for assigning caregivers to us from the agency we enlisted, and we were familiar with how this typically worked: first a needs assessment, then a resource matching, then some status checking.
